Apple Valley Flourite

'I think..." writes Ian Holmes "It could also be Apple Valley Mushrooms though"
I've been away from Gnine modelling for several years. (one reason why this site never got updated) But recently I've felt the need to do something in Gnine. I get fun and enjoyment from ALL my railway modelling adventures from P4 to T but there is a different kind of fun to be had in the "Gn" scales. To that end when I discovered the APA storage box on the IKEA website. I felt the need to build a Gn layout in it.

The interior size is about 27" x 12" and you can see, I think that it screams out "Build a model railway in me!" Oh you can't hear that. Must just be me then.

What to build

Initial thoughts did move in the direction of a mushroom farm or a small agricultural processing unit that would be plausible for a miniature railways' use. Then I had the idea of a flourite mine proposed to me and I must admit to liking the idea. So at the moment the subject matter is fairly nebulous it could go either way.

The concept for this layout calls for three APA boxes.the central one that contains the central processing plant, the right hand one for the mine that contains the flourite workings OR the mushroom farm and a left hand one that has a return loop to enable the model to be operated as a continuous run at shows. Its still early days yet. But I have started work on the first (central) unit and will keep Gnine posted.
